Whatever has brought you here, we hope you find all the information you need and that you give hot yoga a try. It really could be a life changing experience!
BEING PREPARED FOR CLASS
If you are new to yoga or concerned about your fitness levels, then it is recommended to start with one of our Yo 26 and Hot Hatha classes, as they are slower and easier to follow.
We don’t suggest you eat too much before a hot yoga session - preferably a light meal around 2 hours before class.
Make sure you are well hydrated.
Come with a positive attitude. Yoga is not competitive. You are not competing with yourself or anyone else in class. Let go of judgement and self judgement and allow your yoga practice to be something you are doing for yourself. From the very first class, see it for what it is – a gift you give yourself.
If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable at any time, gently stop what you’re doing and lie on your back until the feeling passes. Try to stay in the room.
For your first few classes, try to find a space towards the back of the room - the more advanced yogis tend to be in the front, which means if you get lost, you can watch them!
For your first class, please arrive a good 15 minutes before class starts to register and settle in.
Please be aware that we do not allow late comers into the classes.
HOW TO BOOK AND PAY FOR YOUR CLASS
You will need to book your classes and purchase your class packages through our BookaMat system. It is free to sign up and easy to do. Simply click the link, sign up, choose your prefered package and book your class.

WHAT TO WEAR
The room is heated, we suggest you should wear as little clothing as you feel comfortable in and not too loose fitting.
Avoid wearing any overpowering fragrance or heavy jewellery.
If you have long hair, you should tie it up so it’s secure but comfortable.
Yoga is done barefoot and no shoes are allowed inside the studio.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your yoga mat, a long towel and a bottle of water.
If you’re having a shower at the studio, bring an extra set of clothes and a second towel.
Bring a packet or bag in which to store your sweaty wet clothes!
If you’re going to be heading home straight after class, bring a warm tracksuit or sweater.
Have a shower.
Drink plenty of water.
Be gentle on yourself. Some people feel emotional after certain yoga classes. This is simply because there has been such a release and you should take this as a sign that you should come back soon for more!
No shoes inside the studio.
Leave your belongings in the change room.
Be on time - we don’t allow latecomers in as it disrupts the class.
No talking inside the studio.
Please don’t leave the studio until the class has ended. If you absolutely need to go to the bathroom, leave between postures – quietly and with as little disruption as possible.
WHEN NOT TO DO YOGA
Don’t do yoga if you are feeling ill.
Don’t do yoga if you’ve been drinking alcohol.
Don’t do yoga if you have a serious medical condition until you’ve checked with your doctor and informed your yoga teacher.
Don’t do yoga if you’re pregnant until you have checked with your doctor and informed your yoga teacher.

IS YOGA DIFFICULT?
If you’ve never done yoga before, it might seem difficult at first, because neither your body nor your mind has been stretched in this particular way. It is challenging and every class is different.
IS YOGA REALLY THAT GOOD FOR YOU?
Yes! Yoga is seriously good for you – body and mind – and you will keep seeing and feeling the benefits many years into your practice! Every system in your body will benefit and you can look forward to better digestion, better circulation, better posture, better skin, regulated appetite, healthier lungs and a calmer mind.
CAN I DO YOGA IF I AM OVERWEIGHT?
Absolutely. Just like other beginners, you will find it trying at first, but the more you practice, the better you will be and the easier the postures will become. And, if you do hot yoga regularly, you will no doubt start to lose weight and tone really quickly. You will also find you naturally want to eat more healthily.
CAN I DO YOGA IF I AM PREGNANT?
If you are already a hot yoga practitioner and you’ve checked with your doctor, then by all means. But it is extremely important that you let your teacher know.
WHY THE HEATED ROOM?
When Bikram was first developed, it was done in a heated room to simulate the weather in India. There are loads of benefits, including improved flexibility, because the muscles warm up very quickly and the body is more supple than normal. The heat also makes you sweat a lot, which helps to detoxify the body, clearer skin as well as boosting heart health.
WHICH TYPE OF YOGA IS BEST FOR ME?
A combination of all of our offered practices works well for many people. The more yoga you practice, the better you will learn to understand your body and know what’s right for you from one day to the next.
WHAT IF I AM NOT FLEXIBLE?
In the hot room, you will be more flexible than normal. But even so, yoga is not only about flexibility. It’s also about strength, balance, presence of mind and much more. Flexibility is an advantage of yoga and you will find yourself becoming more flexible with each class.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I'M GOOD AT YOGA?
There’s really no such thing as “good at yoga”. Everybody is different and every body is different. The thing to remember though is that you aren’t doing yoga to accomplish a certain level of skill but to draw the many benefits and do the best you can do on that day (with a smile on your face).
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER CLASS?
After class, enjoy a shower and put on some comfy clothes. Drink plenty of water and take it easy.
HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK SHOULD I DO YOGA?
As many as feels good and right for you. You will probably find that the only thing holding you back from doing yoga as much as you want to is time – it is addictive! Suggested that if you want to maintain your practice, practice 1-3 times a week, if you are wanting to advance your practice, suggested 4-6 times a week, taking at least 1 days break a week.
WILL I BE STIFF AFTERWARDS?
Unless you are used to intense stretching, you might be a little stiff the next day. But not to worry, there is a way to fix that… more hot yoga!
CAN I DO YOGA IS IT'S "THAT TIME" OF THE MONTH?
If you feel up for it, then by all means. But avoid twists, inversions and deep backbends.
